Merry Late Christmas!

Merry (late) Christmas to all! I meant to write this post on Saturday, but then lack of motivation got in the way...^_^ Pretty much all my Christmas gifts were art supplies (of course), including two six-sets of Copic Sketch markers...which made me really, really happy ^_^ So here's some stuff I did with said new art supplies.

Tangles used: Paradox

Paradox in spirals, done with Staetdler Triplus Fineliners in Olive Green, Gray, Van Dyke Brown, and Magenta (I think.)

Tangles used: N'zeppel, Weave, C-Stem, Tipple

Tangles done with a Zebra Disposable Brush Pen - Super Fine. Color added with Akashiya Sai brush pens.

Tangles used: African Artist, Cadent, Mooka, Zinger, Antidots, Beadlines

Uni-Ball Signo Broad - White. It works better on smoother paper, but I think the Gelly Roll works better on the official tiles.

I started on this one by taking my black Copic, closing my eyes, and scribbling. It's not done yet, as you can probably tell ^_^

Tangles used: Drupe. Also not finished.

A random Copic background with some tangles that ideally will grow up to be a monotangle of Drupe. I've set myself another challenge to try and do monotangles of all the official tangles that have online instructions - and after this summer all of the others too, since I signed up for CZT Seminar 24! So excited ^_^ I actually did sign up a while ago, but never got around to sharing it. Now you know ^_^ There aren't any CZTs in my city, so I'm looking forward to being able to spread Zentangle a little more.

Diva Challenge #213 - Traced Object Strings AND Tangle Journal, Week 1

I don't really have much to say, so...I'll just give you a barrage of images!

For the Diva Challenge. I didn't really have any interesting things to trace, so I just took a circular coaster and made 4 intersecting arcs as my string. This was done on Strathmore gray paper.

And my tangle journal, week one. Day 6 somehow got skipped, even though I remember doing it, so...um...yeah. A lot of these have appeared in my previous blog posts.

Diva Challenge #212 - UMT: Fanz by Susan Goetter

Hurrah! I actually participated in another Diva Challenge! I know it's kind of pathetic that me, a high school student, is complaining about not having enough time for things, and there a ton of adults out there with jobs that have way less time for things - but I don't have enough time for things ^_^

I've used Fanz a couple times before, and it's a really fun pattern. Definitely requires some concentration to get all the auras nice and neat, of course.

Now, time to explain why it's on lined paper. My last personal challenge didn't really go anywhere - I think I got through 5 strings - but I'm doing another one anyways. I found a small journal somewhere deep in my room, so I'm going to try and tangle on page every day until I'm out of room. I'll (hopefully) post every week 7 pages (This one's number two). Diva Challenge #206 - Tools/Trade

I've actually tangled with a goodly amount of things...mostly because I constantly lose writing utensils at school, and therefore at any given time will have the weirdest mix of highlighters, gel pens, ballpoints, pencils, colored pencils, crayons, and the occasional brush pen (seriously). And of course, I'm a bad teenager and I tangle in all my classes. I swear, I do all my work, don't tell anyone >.<

I decided to not go to the trouble of finding the bottles of acrylic paint that aren't ruined (they're at least 8 years old), taking out the palette, choosing a brush, actually trying to paint something Zen and failing miserably at making something that doesn't just look like a blob, getting frustrated, and then having to wash everything before I put it away. Markers to the rescue (also really old, probably around 3 years?) ^_^

Tangles used: Leaflet, Mysteria (?), Bronx Cheer, Mooka, Worms, Flux, Opus, Paradox, Florz, Fescu, Tipple, Purk, Crescent Moon

I'm not sure if it's just because I went in with really low expectations, but I actually really, really like this. Also, sorry about the camera angles, I'm too lazy to scan things (and I don't know how) and I'm a really bad photographer.

Also, this is part of a kind of personal challenge for me - I'm trying to work through all the Strings on tanglepatterns.com. The above ZIA uses #3, and this Zentangle below uses #1. #2 is still a work in progress.
