Tangleation Vocation #5: Swirly Dot by Thomas Gallagher

*Happy dance* Yay! More people! ^_^ Thank you again, Lianne, and also Donna, for participating and spreading the word about my humble little blog ^_^ So, I played with Uni (last week's tangle), but I didn't really do it in any particular place, nor did I ever actually feature it in a Zentangle. Funny how even Spring Break didn't let me finish the few things that I actually wanted to ^_^ So, since all I really did with Uni was simple fill differences (much less creative than either Lianne or Donna was), and it's mostly quick scrawls on the side of my homework, I'm not posting any pictures.

Moving on.

This week, your (I feel like I can actually say that truthfully now ^_^) challenge is to play with 9-year-old Thomas Gallagher's wonderful tangle Swirly Dot. Fun, fun, fun.

Diva Challenge #209 - Saint Patty's

Warning: Might offend some people (probably not, though)

This one was done in my tiny sketchbook while in a hotel in Dallas. Lots of fun ^_^
Tangles used: Sh'Rock, Ahh, Crescent Moon, Inapod, Arukas

Also, speaking of Dallas...we spent two days there. The second day, we went to the Dallas Museum of Art. Saw lots of modern art.

I am losing respect in the "art" world because of this.

I know some people actually do find it interesting, but is someone literally just slopping paint on a giant canvas and sliding around in it (?!) worth spending thousands of dollars on and displaying like it's a big deal? What is the art world coming to when the museum guards have to actually tell you that some of the things that don't look like art actually are and that you shouldn't touch them? When you stick a square and a triangle on a yellow background on a giant canvas, and nothing else, and then claim that it's"simple yet complex" and that the shapes are "in dialogue with each other" and that they "create a peculiar energy," and I've seen 3-year-olds create things that are more impressive...it makes me wonder. I honestly believe (and certainly hope) that many of these people have true talent, but that it's stifled by the modern art culture. I feel like people aren't looking for beauty anymore, just uniqueness. And I feel like lots of people, people who don't see the "beauty" in black felt scattered randomly all over the floor (another exhibit at the DMA) don't see it for what it really is - felt scattered all over a floor - but as some creative, complex thing that they're not artistic enough to understand.

*Sigh* I'm done ranting now.

Tangleation Vocation #4: Uni by Beth Snoderly

*Happy dance* Someone actually noticed me. Yippee! Thank you so much, Lianne ^_^ Miasma turned out to be a really fun pattern to play with, though school meant that I didn't really have a whole lot of time. I made one tile with Miasma free from its grid - which I would love to use as a "badge" of sorts for my challenge, but I don't know how. If anyone tech-y out there is reading this, I would appreciate it greatly if you could enlighten me ^_^
Tangles used: Star Map, Florz, Miasma, Birds on a Wire - all tangleations, of course ^_^

I also took ballpoint pen to copy paper and played with orientation, thickness of the "seeds," and fills.

This week, your (my?) challenge is to come up with some tangleations of Beth Snoderly's organic beauty Uni, which I'll admit has me stumped at the moment. Enjoy and be inspired! ^_^

Diva Challenge #208 - Duotangle Cubine/Pokeroot

I really enjoyed this one ^_^ Pokeroot happily bursting out of the vast emptiness under Cubine...it makes me smile. Enjoy and be inspired!
Tangles used: I think you should already know this...yeah...you should. Definitely.
Also, check out my "Tangleation Vocation" challenge here.

Tangleation Vocation #3: Miasma by Linda Dawson

Again, a whopping 0 entries...and again, I had fun. Still a success ^_^
I'm going to pass on posting my work for the last challenge, partly because it's quite unsightly and partly because I'm too lazy to go take a picture of it. Anyways, your (my?) challenge this week is to play around with Linda Dawson's pretty grid pattern Miasma. Have fun and be inspired! ^_^

Tangleation Vocation #2: Birds on a Wire by Mary Kissel

So, I got a grand total of 0 entries on my last "Tangleation Vocation"...but I sure had fun, so this is a success. This week your (my?) challenge is to come up with some tangleations of Mary Kissel's tangle "Birds on a Wire." Instructions are here. And as I promised, here is my attempt at tangleations of "Star Map" by Suzanne McNeill from last week's challenge.
Yeah, I know, it's really hard to see...but hopefully you can figure it out anyways. ^_^

P.S. I just have a normal membership on Linky, so I can only have 1 active one at a time...
