Diva Challenge #220: UMT: All Boxed UP by Alice Hendon, CZT AND Tangleation Vocation #14: Veezely by Sandy Hunter
Ah, another Diva Challenge...the one-stop shop for anyone's Zentangle needs ^_^ I ended up not participating in last week's mostly because my first few attempts were such awful catastrophes I just needed to stop risking an aneurysm over it ^_^ I can't do all straight lines...I just have to fit in some curves somewhere. Or everywhere.
Anyways, this challenge was yet another fun one...All Boxed Up is a wonderful tangle, and shading just makes it so much more amazing.
Tangles used: All Boxed Up
Tangles used: All Boxed Up, Prestwood, Striping, Opus, Mooka, Pokeroot
I did the bottom one with a fountain pen, as I did with last week's Tangleation Vocation challenge.
Tangles used: Phicops, Meringue
And speaking of the challenge, this week your tangle to play with is Veezely by the incredibly talented Sandy Hunter. Enjoy and be inspired! ^_^
P.S. I just have to say...the object of this challenge is to create a tangleation of the focus tangle, not just use it. All the submissions are lovely and I appreciate all of them, of course, but they're not all true to my original intents. Sorry if I'm coming off as rude or something, I'm just saying. Thanks ^_^
Thanks Sue ^_^ The directions actually aren't random - for the first row I ahd the "open" side be top, left, bottom, right, and the second row was right, top, left, bottom, so on and so forth.
Aha, I found it. For some reason I didn't see it before---or maybe it wasn't here before. For a guy who claims to have trouble with straight lines, you did a great job with All Boxed Up ---- as a monotangle no less.
Ditto Suzanne's comment on your all boxed up tile. Love the tangleation of phicops on your third tile, especially the phi cops on the left. May I suggest, for your readers, you add a link to the Zentangle web site glossary page so they can read a definition of what a tangleation is. Cheers
I get to leave a comment and start a challenge when stopping by today! I love the form you used in your tiles. They are unexpected, which for me is a great thing as Zentangle evolves. Great work. Sarah.
Nice work Daniel. I like how your "All-Boxed-Up" came out looking so 3-D. What's the details again on your "Tangleation Vocation? "The object of this challenge is to create a tangleation of the focus tangle," Are we to mix your focus tangle with another tangle to create a 3rd new tangle? Many of the tangles have been "varied" to the point of being unrecognizable. Some aren't used at all as far as I can see. Enlighten me please. I do work on some of the challenges, my computer just won't let me post them. Still working on that and don't have a blog. You say people have been sending you their works of art, but I don't see them. Where do I look?
A tangleation is anything that takes an already existing tangle and either adds something, takes something away, or varies an existing component. And since I created the challenge to help stretch my and others' creativity, more power to you if your result looks like a completely new tangle ^_^ As for viewing the results, on the page of the NEWEST challenge (currently #14) there will be a "Linky" at the bottom of the post with names highlighted in orange. Clicking on one of those names will take you to their response. For all the past challenges, at the bottom of the post there should be a note saying something along the lines of "To view the attached links, click here." Clicking on the "here" will take you to another page with several names on it, and clicking on one of those names will take you to that person's response. Hopefully that all kinda makes sense and I'm actually being helpful here ^_^
Love your first All Boxed Up tile! - the filled in centre is great and the random directions are really interesting. Nicely done!

ReplyDeleteThe curvy bits give your Diva tile a beautiful look and a lot of depth!
ReplyDeleteYou did so very well with this challenge, GREAT!!!
ReplyDeleteThe undulating boxes give a lovely sense of movement and the different sizes of the black centers makes it all work together very well. Nice job!
